Story Time for KIDS/Tweens: for youth 5 to 12 years old, 1 ½ hours per week for 5 weeks: with a methodology that is dynamic and engaging, this course offers children the opportunity to read stories in Spanish, socialize in this language, and learn vocabulary while creating crafts that help reinforce learning.
Costa Rican food: for groups from 2 to 8 participants, all levels of Spanish, 1 ½ hours per week for 5 weeks: this course offers participants the opportunity to learn about Costa Rican recipes as they study vocabulary through the ingredient list and the process on how to prepare each dish. For the final session, students will choose one of the local meals, prepare it at home, and present it to the rest of the class.
Spanish Teacher Workshop: for groups from 2 to 8 participants, minmum level of advanced beginner, 1 ½ hours per week for 5 weeks: participants will have the opportunity to expand knowledge of Spanish grammar and apply it in different contexts of teaching students in primary & secondary schools. The CPI professor, focusing on grammatical themes, will be a facilitator of activities, games, and resources for future use in class with students.
Summer Spanish Camp: Online High School Honors Spanish Prep: for groups from 2 to 7 participants, all levels of Spanish, 2 hours per session: CPI has designed two schedule options (two-week intensive course and four-week course) to prepare for HONORS SPANISH starting this next school year (each student will be placed into a group according to level).
Latin American literature: Introduction to Gabriel García Márquez: for groups from 2 to 8 participants, minimum level of intermediate, 1 ½ hours per week for three weeks: this course offers guided reading of a representative set of Gabriel García Márquez’s works over the range of his literary production, along with analysis of relevant critical commentary and documentaries related to the author’s works. Along with recognizing and studying the principal literary elements of Gabriel García Márquez, a parallel goal is to understand the sociopolitical reality underlying his art and the associated literary movements of the time.
